The CPIE in Périgord - Limousin
An association by law - 1901

In September 1994 the ‘Centre d'Etude et de Découverte du Patrimoine’ in Périgord-Limousin was born. This association has a purpose :

To cooperate with researches en the realisation of cultural products (like group visits, discovery groups, the recreational centre, artistic products and products made by traditional methods, publications, layout), to value the natural and cultural heritage in Périgord-Limousin-Angoumois.
To make these products better and manage them.
To create social (education, professional integration) and economical (creating jobs, economy and stimulating local development) values.
To contribute to the long-lasting development in this area, where it is present thanks to research, education and inspiration.

In 2001 the CEDP received the label CPIE and became a member of the UNCPIE. From this moment on, just like the 78 other members of the network, the CPIE makes an effort to “find, develop and transmit” and to develop its territory in a natural and civil way.

A global approach for an active citizenship

The environment is controlled by the CPIE’s by a global approach with respect for nature, buildings and cultural aspects as well inhabitants with their know-how, customs and their way of life.
This way, the CPIE’s contribute creating responsible behaviour in our way of life :

By sensitizing and developing educational programs,
By participating in spatial management and appreciating the heritage,
By introducing hobby’s and discovery tourism.

This is realised by a group of specialists in several fields. The CPIE has 3 ways of intervention at its disposal, that compliment each other :

To search, by offering advice or researches and by experimenting with new techniques,
To develop, by working together with their partners to value the wealth of their area,
To transmit,with a scientific, sensitive and cultural attitude – adjusted to each different group of people.
